This is the Summer Breeze Kids Top! This cute as a button fingerweight child size top is perfect for that special skein or two of hand-dyed yarn. I needed a quick kids top for my little one for the summer, and this skein jumped off my shelf and onto my hook! And it’s a super simple top to make – perfect for a quick and easy weekend project!
You can find the pattern on both Ravelry and Etsy!
Yarn:
You will need a 3.5mm hook and 250-950 yards of any finger weight yarn. I used the color Funky Monkey in Addy Socks Fingerweight 4-ply 75/25 superwas merino / nylon (463 yards per 100g) dyed by Brediculous Yarns (www.brediculousyarns.com)
Inspiration:
For this kids top I wanted something my Maggie could wear all summer and be comfortable. So often I see little kids in crop top tanks and that just doesn’t sit well with me. So instead I created a simple short sleeved top. It’s a full length top, but because it flares out at the base, it’ll keep your little one nice and cool!
Construction:
This yoke top blouse is completely seamless! You start with the yoke, turning your work every round. Add some length to the yoke, and then do a simple arm/body split. Once you’re past the arm holes and onto the main body, you’ll use stitch markers to note where to add stitches, keeping the counting to a minimum (that’s always a plus!). The simply border on the base and sleeve cuffs adds a slight girly flair without being too flowery.
You will need a basic understanding of the usual crochet stitches, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.
