Introducing the Zig Zag Summer Blouse! This is a fun fitted yoke top blouse with zig zag cutouts around the collar and base! This tight-fitting top is sure to be a staple in your summer collection! The simple colorwork keeps it fun and interesting, while the zig zag cutouts keep it from weighing down.
You can find the pattern on both Ravelry and Etsy!
Yarn:
You can use any worsted (#4) weight yarn, and you’ll need 400-1150 yards MC, and 75-125 yards AC1 and AC2, depending on size. I used Caron Cotton Cakes, and it worked up fast!
Inspiration:
When I looked for yarn for this top, I was originally on the hunt for a stash buster! I came across the pink and white, and just knew I had to combine them – The green then jumped into my hands, and a blouse was born! I also love working with trebles – I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite stitch, so using a NEW treble stitch to make the cutouts was a no-brainer!
Construction:
This yoke top blouse is worked top down. The lovely zig zag pattern creates an open fabric around the neck, like a light necklace, and its continuation on the bottom of the blouse and the sleeves tie the top together. There’s no seaming, and some very simple colorwork at the base, lending an additional “zig zag” motif!
This lovely blouse comes in sizes Extra-Small (30”) to 5XL (60”). You will need a basic understanding of the crochet stitches chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and minor experience in simple colorwork will help. The new stitch, Treble Crochet Zig Zag (TrZZ) is explained both verbally and with picture instruction for your convenience!
